Nollywood Actress Nkechi Blessing Narrowly Escapes Danger as Ceiling Collapses at Her Lekki Residence

Nollywood actress and social media influencer Nkechi Blessing Sunday narrowly avoided a serious accident when the POP ceiling of her home in Lekki, Lagos, suddenly collapsed. The actress revealed the incident through a video on her Instagram page, explaining that the ceiling gave way just above the spot where her car is usually parked. While no one was injured, Nkechi expressed shock over the incident and blamed poor construction by local developers as the likely cause.

“Come to Lekki, they said,” Nkechi wrote in the caption, lacing her words with sarcasm and frustration. “Thank God it wasn’t inside the house and that my new car wasn’t there, wetin I for talk abeg? It’s well with una Lekki developers.”

Visibly shaken, the actress expressed her disbelief at the occurrence. “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life,” she said in the video. “This is serious. What if someone was standing there? What if my car had been parked in its usual spot? This could have been a disaster.”

The video quickly went viral, igniting widespread discussions on social media about building safety, substandard construction practices, and the rising concerns over housing developments in Lagos especially in the high-end Lekki area, which has frequently faced criticism for poor construction quality despite its expensive real estate market.

Support poured into Nkechi’s comment section from fans, fellow celebrities, and concerned Nigerians, with many expressing relief over her safety and demanding accountability from those responsible. Several commenters called out the negligence of developers in the area, while others recounted their own encounters with similar structural issues in Lekki and other parts of Lagos.

While no injuries occurred, the incident underscores ongoing safety concerns in Nigeria’s upscale housing estates, prompting renewed calls for stricter building regulations and inspections.

So far, no official statement has been released by the property developers responsible for the construction of Nkechi’s home. However, the actress hinted at possible legal action or at least a formal complaint, urging others to speak out when such incidents occur.

As the story continues to gain traction, many hope it will not just be another viral moment, but a catalyst for real reform in Nigeria’s housing sector.
