Oyo Police Arrest Cleric With Suspected Human Flesh

The Oyo State Police Command has taken into custody an Islamic cleric, identified as Alfa Bashiru, after he was allegedly found with suspected human flesh.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, disclosed this in a statement posted on the Command’s verified X handle on Thursday.

According to Osifeso, the arrest took place on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. when operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol intercepted a white bus with registration number XA 551 IRG at the Toll Gate axis of the Ibadan Expressway. The suspect, who was among the passengers, was allegedly found with the disturbing item.

During questioning, Bashiru allegedly confessed that he bought the suspected human flesh, but police investigations are still underway to determine its origin and purpose.

The police command assured residents of Oyo State that it remains committed to safeguarding lives and property. It also urged citizens to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities to security agencies.
