Morocco and PSG star Achraf Hakimi has won the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award, beating fellow finalists Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Liverpool, and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray.
The honour was announced on Wednesday at the CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco, where Hakimi was the only finalist present, heightening the excitement in the venue.
The 26-year-old fullback enjoyed an exceptional year, helping PSG clinch the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1 title, Coupe de France and the UEFA Super Cup. His standout performances for both club and country placed him ahead of other contenders.
In his acceptance speech, Hakimi expressed gratitude to his family, teammates and fans, dedicating the award to young African footballers striving to make their mark on the global stage.
His win marks a historic moment for Morocco, making him the country’s first recipient of the award since Mustapha Hadji claimed it in 1998.
