Meloni to Nigeria: Bring the Killers of Christians to Justice

Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has delivered a strong message to the Nigerian government, urging authorities to swiftly prosecute those responsible for the escalating attacks on Christian communities across the country.

Her reaction follows the recent surge of chilling violence in Nigeria, including the deadly attack on a church in Eruku, Kwara State, where gunmen stormed a night service, killing worshippers and abducting several others.

In a strongly worded statement, Meloni condemned the attacks as “barbaric” and insisted that religious freedom must be protected at all costs. She urged the Federal Government to intensify investigations, secure vulnerable communities, and ensure that those responsible face the full weight of the law.

The Italian leader expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, warning that silence and inaction will only embolden violent groups targeting Christians across the region.

As Nigeria grapples with rising banditry, insurgency and widespread abductions, global attention is intensifying and Meloni’s warning rings loudest; act now, or risk even greater turmoil”.
