African Queen Brought Both Blessings and Challenges -2Face Idibia Reveals

Legendary Nigerian artiste, Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Face or 2Baba, has described his iconic hit song African Queen as both a “blessing” and a “curse,” revealing that while the track propelled him to stardom, it also came with its fair share of challenges.

Speaking in a recent interview, the award-winning artiste said African Queen, released in 2004, became a turning point in his musical journey, earning him global recognition and several awards. He, however, admitted that the song’s massive success came with its own share of controversies and pressures.

“African Queen has been a very huge blessing, and e come turn to problem join for me. But I am grateful for everything,” 2Face said.

The classic love song, which gained international acclaim after featuring in the Hollywood movie Phat Girlz, was recently named by Billboard as the greatest Afrobeats song of all time; a recognition that reignited discussions about its legacy and impact on Nigerian music.

Despite the challenges, 2Face maintained that he remains proud and grateful for the success of African Queen, describing it as a song that continues to define his artistry and inspire generations of Afrobeats musicians.
