AfroBasket 2025: D’Tigers Set To Dominate

Nigeria’s D’Tigers have unveiled their final 12-man squad, ready to make a powerful push for glory at the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Championship in Luanda, Angola, from August 12 to 24.

D’Tigers aim to reclaim their 2015 title, opening AfroBasket 2025 against Madagascar in Group B alongside Tunisia and Cameroon.

After weeks of intensive training and assessment, Head Coach Mohammed Abdulrahman made his final selections, trimming the squad by cutting Fola Fayemi, Kareem Joseph, and Mohamed AbdulSalam. In addition, experienced big man Peter Olisemeka was dropped due to ineligibility.

Leading the squad is NBA star Josh Okogie, who returns as the team’s standout name. He’s joined by experienced internationals Talib Zanna, Stan Okoye, Ike Nwamu, and Caleb Agada, forming a solid core with past AfroBasket experience.

The final squad also welcomes a new generation of talent, including Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Mike Nuga, Devine Eke, Christian Mekowulu, Martins Igbanu, Ugo Andrew Simon, and Emmanuel Omogbo, all hoping to make their mark on the continental stage.

With a blend of seasoned pros and fresh prospects, Nigeria’s D’Tigers are aiming to restore their dominance on the African basketball scene mirroring the success of D’Tigress, Nigeria’s women’s team, who currently reign as African champions.
