Akpabio At 63: Tinubu Salutes Senate President’s ‘Uncommon’ Dedication To Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has celebrated Senate President Godswill Akpabio on his 63rd birthday, describing him as a patriot with uncommon commitment to building a better Nigeria.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the President praised Akpabio’s decades of exceptional leadership across various positions in Nigerian governance.

The president recalled Akpabio’s transformative tenure as the two-term governor of Akwa Ibom State, where he became known as “the uncommon governor.” He noted that Akpabio oversaw major infrastructure projects that positioned Akwa Ibom as a leading player in the national economy and delivered one of the country’s most iconic stadiums, which remains among Nigeria’s finest today.

Following his time as governor, Akpabio served as Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs before being elected to the Senate, where he currently serves as President.

In his tribute, President Tinubu emphasized Akpabio’s role in promoting executive-legislative harmony and advancing initiatives that support national development, peace, and security. He praised Akpabio’s strength of character and resilience, stating; “I have always admired his strength of character and ability to remain undaunted even in the face of challenges.” The President prayed for many years of good health and continued leadership impact for the Senate President.

Also on Tuesday, President Tinubu honoured former Minister of Defence, Lt. General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), on his 88th birthday, describing him as a distinguished statesman who has served Nigeria with unwavering loyalty and continues to influence national discourse through the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation.
