Arsenal: Mendieta Backs Fabregas to Replace Arteta

Gaizka Mendieta has backed Cesc Fabregas as a potential successor to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, praising his connection to the club and early coaching success.

While commenting on Arsenal’s future, Mendieta said Fabregas a former Gunners star who also played for Barcelona and Chelsea has the tactical insight and leadership to succeed in elite management. He called the ex-Arsenal captain a “natural successor” to Mikel Arteta if the position opens up.

Since his appointment in 2019, Arteta has guided Arsenal to major honours, including an FA Cup and two Community Shields, while keeping the club in close contention for the Premier League title.

His team have finished second for three seasons in a row, just behind Manchester City and Liverpool. Mendieta said Fabregas’ success at Como shown through his smart tactics and calm leadership proves he’s ready for bigger roles and could one day return to North London as manager.
