BREAKING: PENGASSAN Strike Shuts Down NNPC, NUPRC, NMDPRA Operations

A nationwide strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN on Monday disrupted operations at major oil and gas regulatory bodies, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

Acting on a directive from its National Executive Council, PENGASSAN members across the country withdrew their services, effectively triggering the industrial action.

At the NUPRC headquarters in Abuja, the gates remained locked as staff were barred from entering, with security personnel confirming full compliance with the union’s directive.

The strike is reportedly tied to unresolved welfare concerns. Government officials have not yet responded, while industry observers warn of potential economic fallout if the shutdown persists.
