Former Pension Reform Task Force chairman, Abdulrasheed Maina, has been hospitalised after slumping on Tuesday.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by his media assistant, Emmanuel Ekwe, Maina collapsed while trying to access his office.
Ekwe explained that the incident was caused by complications from an untreated knee injury, which made Maina lose his balance and fall. During the fall, he reportedly hit his head on a staircase.

“Dr Abdulrasheed Maina slumped on the evening of Tuesday, February 3, 2026, while attempting to enter his office,” the statement said. “The fall was triggered by an untreated knee injury, causing him to lose balance and hit his head.”
He added that medical personnel at the scene quickly stepped in, administered first aid, and rushed Maina to a private hospital in Abuja for urgent medical attention.
Maina is said to be receiving intensive care and remains under close medical observation. Doctors are reportedly monitoring his condition closely and have advised that an air ambulance evacuation may be considered if his health does not stabilise.
The family has appealed to the public for prayers, understanding, and privacy as he continues to receive treatment. Further updates, the statement said, will be provided as the situation develops.
Maina is widely known for his controversial role as head of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms and the high-profile corruption case that followed.
