The Federal Government has denied rumours that it cancelled the UTME, saying JAMB is still in charge of student admissions into universities and other higher institutions in Nigeria.

The Ministry of Education’s spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, said the government did not cancel UTME and that JAMB is still the approved body in charge of exams and admissions into higher institutions.
According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Ministry still partners with JAMB and other education agencies to ensure fairness, transparency, and merit in the admission process.
The explanation came after social media reports claimed UTME was no longer required for admission. The review only updated the rules to let students without a credit in Mathematics study some Arts courses, to help more people gain admission into higher institutions.
