FG Deploys 240 Solar-Powered Tricycles to 12 Federal Universities

The Federal Government has rolled out a new transport scheme to support students in federal universities across the country. Under the Renewed Hope Campus Transport Scheme, 240 solar-powered electric tricycles and 12 charging stations have been deployed nationwide.

The initiative was formally launched at the University of Lagos by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. He said the scheme is designed to improve campus transportation, reduce costs for students and encourage a shift to clean-energy mobility.

According to him, President Tinubu has tremendous respect for the country’s young people and understands how crucial education is for society. He added that no previous president has invested as much in education as the current administration has.

Each of the 12 universities will receive 20 tricycles along with a dedicated solar-powered charging station to keep the vehicles operational. The tricycles will be owned and managed by the Student Union Governments in the beneficiary institutions.

Government officials say the move is expected to ease transportation challenges faced by students and promote sustainability on campuses nationwide.
