FG Rolls Out N32,000 Pension Increase for Retirees, Says PTAD

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate has begun implementing the newly approved pension increments for retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme with the adjustments set to reflect in the September 2025 payroll.

As announced on its X platform, PTAD said the new package includes a ₦32,000 flat payment and percentage increases of 10.66% and 12.95%, benefiting about 832,000 DBS pensioners nationwide.

The development comes after President Bola Tinubu approved new welfare measures in August, following a request from PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, for emergency funding to support pension reforms.

The Directorate stated that the increment aligns with efforts to reflect current economic conditions and the government’s commitment to pensioners’ welfare. It assured that payments will be processed smoothly, with eligible retirees receiving the new rates without delay.

This move represents a major step in the government’s pension reform efforts and is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to thousands of retired civil servants awaiting benefit adjustments.
