FUTO Lecturer Destroys Student’s Project, Says It Was “Too Good”

A lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Imo State, has caused anger online after he reportedly destroyed a student’s final-year project because he believed it was “too good” to have been done by the student.

The incident happened in the Department of Architecture during a project defense session. In a video now trending on social media, the lecturer was seen tearing and breaking the student’s architectural model while questioning how the student made it.

Many Nigerians have reacted with shock and anger, calling the lecturer’s action unfair and unprofessional. They said the student should have been praised for doing good work, not punished for it.

An online comment read: “This is very wrong. Lecturers should encourage students, not destroy their efforts.”

As of now, FUTO has not released any official statement about the incident. However, reports say the school authorities are aware of it and may be investigating.

The video has continued to spark discussions about how some lecturers treat students in Nigerian universities and the need to promote fairness and respect in academic settings.
