Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has sealed a permanent transfer to Galatasaray from Italian side Napoli in a deal worth €75 million, ending months of speculation over his future.
The Turkish champions confirmed the move on Thursday, announcing that the 26-year-old has signed a four-year contract, which will see him earn €15 million per year. Osimhen, who impressed during his loan spell last season, also receives a €1 million loyalty bonus and €5 million for image rights as part of the agreement.
“An agreement has been reached with SSC Napoli SPA for the transfer of professional footballer Victor James Osimhen,” Galatasaray said.
“A net transfer fee of €75 million will be paid to his former club.”
Napoli will also receive 10% of the profit from any future sale of Osimhen. In addition, the contract includes a clause preventing the Nigerian striker from joining any Serie A club over the next two years.
Speaking after the announcement, Osimhen expressed his excitement to remain with Galatasaray, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell.
“I’m so happy to be a part of the Galatasaray family again,” he said.
“You know my quality from last season. I believe that with the strength of this team, we’ll achieve even greater success, especially in the Champions League, which is a major goal for us.”
Osimhen scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances for Galatasaray last season, helping the club secure the domestic double, the Süper Lig title and Turkish Cup. His performances made him a fan favourite and a priority signing for the club heading into the new campaign.
The move marks the end of a strained relationship with Napoli. Once a key figure in their Serie A title-winning side, Osimhen’s ties with the club broke down due to off-field issues and contract disputes. He was sidelined early last season, paving the way for his loan move to Turkey.
With this permanent transfer, both player and club now turn the page. Galatasaray gain a proven goal-scorer, while Osimhen gets a fresh start and a chance to lead the team into Europe’s top competition.
