Renowned gospel singer Dunsin Oyekan has expressed serious concern over the escalating attacks on Christian worshippers in Nigeria, following a recent deadly assault on a church in Kwara State.
Oyekan, who shared his thoughts on social media, lamented the rising wave of violence that has claimed innocent lives in recent weeks. He specifically referenced a recent attack on a Christ Apostolic Church branch in Kwara State, where three worshippers were killed and several others, including a pastor, were abducted. He also alluded to violence in Borno State, noting the continued threat from insurgent groups.
In his statement, Oyekan criticized the government’s handling of the security situation, questioning: “And we have a government abi????”
The gospel minister called on divine intervention, praying for justice against the perpetrators. Referencing Psalm 82:1‑8, he urged God to “judge the enemies of this nation once and for all in this season.”
Oyekan’s comments have sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns over the safety of places of worship. The attacks underscore ongoing security challenges in the country, highlighting the need for stronger measures to protect citizens.
As Nigeria grapples with rising violence, voices like Oyekan’s continue to raise awareness and advocate for the safety of innocent civilians.
