Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde Names Polytechnic Ibadan After Ex-Governor Olunloyo

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has renamed The Polytechnic Ibadan in honour of a former governor of the state, Dr. Victor Olunloyo.

Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has renamed The Polytechnic Ibadan in honor of a former governor of the state, Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo.

Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde announced the institution’s new name on Thursday during the state burial ceremony held for the late governor at the Obafemi Awolowo (Liberty) Stadium, Ibadan.

Dr. Olunloyo, who passed away a few weeks ago, was the governor of the old Oyo State between October and December 1983. Significantly, he was the first indigene of Ibadan to serve as governor.

In addition to his political career, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo also served as Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, further strengthening his ties to the institution.

Consequently, Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde declared that the institution will now be called Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.

According to the Governor, the name change was made to honor the late leader’s contributions to both education and governance in Oyo State.

Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde emphasized that the renaming reflects the state’s appreciation for Dr. Omololu Olunloyo’s legacy and lifelong dedication to public service.
