Popular Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has received her second Guinness World Record, this time for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice in the world.
According to Guinness World Records, the huge pot of rice weighed 8,780 kilograms and was cooked in Victoria Island, Lagos while thousands of people came out to watch Hilda and her team prepare the meal.
“It took nine hours of fire, passion, and teamwork,” Hilda said proudly after receiving her award. “I wanted to show the world how amazing Nigerian food is.”
This is not Hilda’s first big achievement. In 2023, she broke the record for the longest cooking marathon, spending 93 hours and 11 minutes in the kitchen. Her new record has not only made many Nigerians proud but added more fun to the friendly “Jollof Wars” the debate over which West African country makes the best jollof rice.
Fans all over social media are celebrating her success, calling her a true inspiration for young Nigerians.
“This record belongs to all Nigerians,” Hilda said. “Our food and culture deserve to shine around the world.”
