In a continued drive to enhance grassroots development and promote quality education, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Oluyole Constituency, has commissioned a newly renovated block of classrooms and rolled out a financial empowerment scheme at Community Primary School, Olunde, Ibadan. The event took place on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Speaking at the commissioning, Hon. Akintayo noted that the initiative is a continuation of his ongoing efforts to uplift his constituency. He highlighted past interventions, including enrolling over 500 constituents in the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme, providing free transportation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and donating solar-powered streetlights to more than 10 communities within Oluyole.
The headmistress of Community Primary School, Mrs. Adebayo Racheal, praised the renovation, stating that a conducive learning environment significantly enhances student engagement and academic performance.
“A beautiful environment will encourage the students to want to learn,” she said, adding that the poor condition of classrooms and furniture had previously hindered both teaching and learning in the school.
Also speaking at the event, Chief Mrs. Alao Basirat Bamidele, the Oluyole Local Government Woman Leader, expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Akintayo for his consistent support and visible impact in the community.
In addition to the educational intervention, Hon. Akintayo also empowered over 120 individuals with financial support aimed at boosting small businesses and supporting low-income earners, a move targeted at promoting entrepreneurship and local economic growth.
To further improve security in the area, the lawmaker who also chairs the House Committee on Media, ICT, and Public Affairs handed over security gadgets to the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Olunde, reinforcing efforts to safeguard lives and property.
The headmistress, along with several beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the lawmaker’s ongoing efforts, describing them as timely and impactful for the school and wider community.
