The Vice Chairman of Ido Local Government and Chairmanship Aspirant for 2027, Hon. Barr. Olayemi Ajibola Oluwashina, has lauded the remarkable infrastructural transformation recorded under the administration of Seyi Makinde, describing it as unprecedented in the history of Oyo State.
Speaking during a recent engagement with party stakeholders and community leaders, Olayemi said the ongoing upgrade of the Ibadan Airport to international standard remains one of the boldest and most visionary projects of the present administration. According to him, the initiative, facilitated through the intervention and collaboration of Governor Makinde with the Federal Government of Nigeria, has positioned Ibadan for global connectivity and economic expansion.
“From Ibadan to London is no longer a mere imagination but a strategic economic possibility. Imagine if we never had Governor Seyi Makinde at this critical time in our state’s history,” Olayemi stated.
He noted that the airport upgrade would not only ease international travel for residents and investors but would significantly boost trade, tourism, agribusiness exports, and overall economic development across Oyo State.
The 2027 Chairmanship hopeful further commended Governor Makinde’s giant strides across critical sectors of the state’s economy, including road infrastructure, healthcare, education, security architecture, and urban renewal. He emphasized that the administration’s developmental footprint is visible in all geopolitical zones of the state.
Olayemi particularly highlighted the strategic development of ultramodern shopping complexes and organized car parks across local governments in the state, noting that each council area now boasts one or two modern commercial hubs. According to him, these projects have helped to sanitize the environment, improve internally generated revenue, create employment opportunities for youths and traders, and promote organized urban planning.
“These ultramodern shopping complexes and car parks are not just structures; they are economic enablers. They support small and medium-scale enterprises, reduce traffic congestion, enhance security, and strengthen local government revenue generation,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development, Olayemi pledged to consolidate on the achievements of the Makinde-led administration if elected Chairman of Ido Local Government in 2027. He assured residents that his leadership would prioritize people-centered policies, infrastructural expansion, youth empowerment, and transparent governance.
He called on party faithful and residents to remain steadfast in their support for Governor Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that continuity of progressive governance remains key to sustaining Oyo State’s growth trajectory.
