The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received applications from 43 media organisations to cover the Anambra State governorship election set for November 8, 2025.

The commission said 363 journalists and media workers are expected to cover the election. This was disclosed by acting INEC Chairman, May Agbamuche-Mbu on Wednesday during a meeting with media executives in Abuja.

She explained that INEC had opened its Media Accreditation Portal on September 1, 2025, for media organisations interested in covering the Anambra election to register.

“As of this morning, we have received applications from 43 media organisations for 363 individuals,” Agbamuche-Mbu said.

She praised the media for working closely with INEC and urged journalists to report fairly, accurately, and responsibly before, during, and after the election.
