NAFDAC Destroys N15bn Worth of Fake, Expired Drugs in Ibadan

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC has destroyed counterfeit, expired, and substandard products worth an estimated N15 billion in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The destruction exercise, carried out on Thursday, was announced by the agency’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, who was represented by the Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Martins Iluyomade.

Adeyeye said the move reaffirms NAFDAC’s commitment to protecting public health by ensuring all regulated products are safe, wholesome, and effective.

She emphasized that drugs remain central to the agency’s mandate, noting that strict rules guide their licensing, sale, and distribution.

NAFDAC further cautioned that defaulters would face severe penalties and appealed to Nigerians to remain alert and report suspicious products in circulation, noting that collaborative vigilance is key to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of citizens.
