Niger Police Begin Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permits

The Niger State Police Command has commenced enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy across the state, with Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, leading from the front.

Elleman on Thursday personally oversaw the operation in Minna, where officers mounted checkpoints at key locations to enforce compliance. Vehicles with tinted glasses were stopped, and drivers were asked to present valid permits in accordance with the law.

The command explained that the operation goes beyond enforcing compliance, describing it as part of wider measures to strengthen security in Niger State. Officials stressed that vehicles with unauthorized tinted glasses are frequently used by criminals, hence the enforcement is considered vital to crime prevention efforts.

The move follows debates and an NBA lawsuit challenging the tinted glass policy, but the Niger command insists enforcement is vital for security and road safety.

By personally overseeing the exercise, CP Elleman underscored the command’s resolve to enforce security measures while upholding due process and maintaining public trust.
