Nigerian Couple Weds on Moving Train

A Nigerian couple has gone viral after getting married on a moving train, the first time such a wedding has happened in the country.

The bride, Sharon Ifunanya, an event planner, and the groom, Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua, turned a Lagos–Ibadan train coach into a decorated wedding venue with flowers, guests, and ministers.

The train took off from Mobolaji Johnson Station in Alagomeji-Yaba, Lagos, and the couple said their vows during the ride. Videos of the special wedding quickly went viral, with many people calling it creative and exciting.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) also joined the celebration. In a post on X, they said it was the first wedding on a moving train in Nigeria and called it a special moment, adding that every train ride has its own story.

“From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track. History made, the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination. At NRC, every ride tells a story,” the agency wrote.

Many Nigerians online said the wedding was fun and inspiring, showing that love can be celebrated anywhere even on a train.
