Nnamdi Kanu Files New Motion, Seeks Dismissal of All Charges

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a new request at the Federal High Court in Abuja, asking the court to cancel all the terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

In the motion filed on October 30, 2025, Kanu said the charges against him were not valid because they were based on old or repealed laws that no longer exist.

He also said the government was disobeying a previous Court of Appeal ruling, which had already discharged and acquitted him of similar charges.

Kanu complained that his rights have been violated, claiming he has limited access to his lawyers and that the authorities used a fake medical report to judge his health condition. He also argued that the court has no power to try him for some of the alleged offences said to have happened outside Nigeria, especially in Kenya.

Kanu is asking the court to declare the charges illegal and throw them out completely. He also wants the court to order the government to reply to his motion within three days and deliver a ruling by November 4, 2025.

The new motion comes as his trial continues to attract public attention. Recently, Kanu refused to defend himself, insisting that the case against him has no legal basis.
