Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva is grieving the loss of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who died on August 29, 2025, at the age of 72.
On Thursday, Silva shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, posting a heartfelt tribute to her late brother, whom she lovingly called “Bros B” and “Uncle B.”
“With acceptance of God’s Sovereign will, we announce the call to the glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva, long John Silva, Bros B, Uncle B, my easy go lucky brother. Rest in peace. January 22nd 1953 – August 29th, 2025,” she wrote.
John Olabiyi Silva, remembered for his gentle spirit and laid-back nature, was a beloved figure within the Silva family. While he lived a largely private life, those who knew him spoke fondly of his warmth, quiet strength, and enduring charm.
His passing comes during a difficult period for Joke Silva, who has been open about the emotional and physical demands of caring for her husband, Nollywood veteran Olu Jacobs. Jacobs has been battling dementia for several years a journey Silva has spoken about both publicly and privately, earning admiration for her courage and unwavering devotion.
