Nigeria’s Super Eagles have stepped up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with 17 players including star strikers; Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman now in camp in Polokwane, South Africa, ahead of Friday’s key match against Lesotho. The players arrived on Tuesday, a day after the coaches and team officials set up camp.
Team officials said captain William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are among the first players to arrive, as coach Finidi George starts preparing his tactics.
More players are expected to join before Wednesday’s full training session, while fitness checks and tactical drills have already started. The match against Lesotho will kick off Nigeria’s campaign for a spot at the 2026 World Cup, before the team heads to Abidjan next week to face Zimbabwe in their second group game.
