Oyo Court Shifts Hearing on PDP National Convention Suit to Wednesday

The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has adjourned the hearing of a suit seeking to stop the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its national convention until Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

The suit was filed by a party member, Folahan Malomo Adelabi, who is challenging the legality of the planned convention and seeking an order to restrain the party’s leadership from proceeding with the exercise.

At the resumed hearing on Monday, presided over by Justice Ladiran Akintola, the court adjourned the matter to allow parties involved to file and exchange necessary court processes before the next sitting.

The PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, and members of the party’s convention planning committee are among the respondents in the suit.

Justice Akintola emphasised the need for due process, stating that all parties must be given fair hearing before any substantive ruling is made.

The case has generated significant interest within the PDP, as the outcome could determine whether the party proceeds with its convention as scheduled.
