The Oyo State Government has declared that several major roads surrounding Mapo Hall in Ibadan will be closed from 7:00 am on Friday to facilitate security and smooth coordination for the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the coronation organising committee, which was set up by the state government to oversee preparations for the historic ceremony. According to the committee, the affected roads to be shut are; Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall, Born Photo Junction inward Oja’ba, Idi-Arere Junction inward Oja’ba, Itamerin Junction inward Mapo Hall.
The road closures are meant to ensure safety and smooth traffic during the coronation, with security and traffic officials on ground to manage the situation and direct motorists.
Oba Rashidi Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, is being crowned the new Olubadan following the passing of Oba Lekan Balogun earlier this year. His coronation is seen as a significant cultural milestone in Ibadan, one of Nigeria’s most prominent traditional cities.
Therefore, the state government has urged residents and commuters to plan their movements early and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a smooth and peaceful event.
