The Oyo State AIDS Control Agency (OYSACA) has awarded nine outgoing NYSC members with certificates for their training and service as peer educators under the NYSC HIV/AIDS Prevention and Reproductive Health Project.
The recognition was given under the NYSC Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention Project (HAPP), which trains corps members as peer educators to spread knowledge about HIV prevention and sexual health in schools and communities.
Speaking at the event, OYSACA’s Coordinating Director, Dr. Wale Falana, commended the Corps members HIV Peer Education (C-PET) for serving as “agents of change,” noting that their efforts contributed significantly to reducing the spread of HIV in the state. He urged them to sustain the advocacy beyond their service year.

NYSC Schedule Officer for the HIV/AIDS CDS Group, Mrs. Aderonke Abimbola, expressed gratitude to OYSACA for the recognition, describing it as a motivation for other corps members to join the fight against HIV.
The outgoing peer educator president, Temitope Animasaun, said the gesture showed appreciation for their dedication and encouraged them to continue promoting safe health practices.
Commenting on her experience, outgoing C-PET Vice President Miss Loveth Amaka said, “This role gave me the chance to interact with different people and build my confidence. I was shy at first, but with the support of my president and fellow executives, I learned to speak up and take initiative.”
OYSACA reaffirmed its commitment to working with the NYSC and other partners to expand community health education and strengthen efforts to end the spread of HIV in Oyo State.
