Petrol Now ₦820 as Dangote Refinery Cuts Price, Launches Green Truck Fleet

In a bold move set to ease pressure on motorists and businesses, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has slashed the ex-depot price of petrol by ₦30, bringing it down from ₦850 to ₦820 per litre.

The price adjustment, which took effect on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, reflects the refinery’s commitment to supporting economic stability and making fuel more affordable for Nigerians.

The refinery’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, announced the price cut, describing it as a key step in a broader strategy to guarantee steady supply and strengthen Nigeria’s energy security.

“This move reinforces our unwavering dedication to national development and operational excellence,” Chiejina said. “We are committed to maintaining an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products across the country.”

Beyond slashing fuel prices, Dangote Refinery is gearing up to launch 4,000 CNG-powered trucks for nationwide fuel distribution, with rollout set to begin on August 15, 2025.

According to the statement, the use of CNG-powered trucks is designed to align with global best practices in sustainable logistics and reduce Nigeria’s carbon footprint.

The Dangote Refinery, which began operations earlier this year, is Africa’s largest privately owned oil refinery and is expected to play a critical role in transforming Nigeria from a fuel-importing nation to a self-sufficient energy producer.

The latest move is seen as a bold step towards easing the burden of high fuel prices while promoting environmentally responsible distribution methods.
