First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has announced that over N20 billion has been raised so far for the completion of the National Library project in Abuja.
Mrs. Tinubu, speaking to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, explained that the fundraising initiative was part of the events commemorating her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025.
She encouraged well-wishers to make donations to the “Oluremi at 65 Education Fund” in place of traditional gifts or greetings. Managed by the Federal Ministry of Education, the fund is intended to support the long-overdue National Library project, which has been stalled for years due to financial limitations.
“This is a legacy project that goes beyond just marking a personal milestone,” Mrs. Tinubu said. “It’s about investing in our nation’s intellectual infrastructure and making knowledge accessible to all Nigerians.”
The First Lady thanked individuals, corporate bodies, and government institutions for their contributions to the fund. She reiterated her commitment to advancing education in Nigeria, describing the National Library project as a powerful symbol of the nation’s commitment to knowledge and literacy.
