Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, is set to return to the Nigerian Senate later this month following the completion of her six-month suspension.
Her lawyer, Victor Giwa, confirmed that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is ready to resume her legislative duties when the National Assembly reconvenes on September 23.
“She’s ready to resume her term. She’s in London at the moment, but everything is in place, and the six months have expired. The only thing left is her resumption,” Giwa told reporters on Monday.

Senator Natasha was suspended in March through a contentious Senate resolution, the specifics of which were never fully made public. The move drew widespread criticism, with civil society groups and several lawmakers demanding a review of the disciplinary procedure.
A strong voice for infrastructure development and women’s rights, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s absence has been deeply felt, especially in debates concerning North Central Nigeria. Her return is expected to revive legislative focus on critical issues impacting her constituency.
Political analysts will be paying close attention to how Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan manages her return, particularly in a Senate still dealing with internal rifts and mounting public scrutiny.
As the Senate prepares to reconvene in two weeks, focus is shifting to how the chamber will welcome back one of its most prominent and occasionally divisive members.
