In a show of party unity, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House of Representative Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signaling a coordinated push within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Nigeria looks toward the 2027 general elections.
The trio made the announcement during a meeting of the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja on Friday, urging party members to stay focused, disciplined, and united amid growing political activity nationwide.
Speaking to party delegates, Vice President Shettima told party members that Tinubu has played an important role in Nigeria’s politics for many years, helping build democracy and the party. He said that winning elections depends on trust, good planning, and smart decisions, not just being popular on social media or following trends.
Senate President Akpabio said that the lawmakers support President Tinubu’s plans to improve the country. He also mentioned that the lawmakers are working closely with the government on important laws to make governance better and they are working on changing the Electoral Act to set clear rules and timelines for party meetings before the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, Speaker Abbas said it’s very important for the APC party to stay united. He explained that party unity helps the government work well and keeps the public trusting them.
The top APC leaders openly supporting Tinubu shows that the party is united. This sends a clear message that they want to stay together as Nigeria gets closer to the next national elections.
