Wike Denies Fresh Allegations of Land Allocation to Children, Labels Claims as Political Blackmail

Abuja – July 1, 2025
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has once again dismissed allegations that he allocated land to his children, describing the claims as baseless and politically motivated.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the minister said the latest reports linking his children to land allocations in Abuja are part of a coordinated smear campaign.

Last week, reports alleged that Wike allocated 2,082 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro to one of his sons through a company named Joaq Farms and Estates Limited. This week, a similar claim emerged, alleging that another son received land through Jordan Farms and Estates Limited.

Reacting to the new claim, Olayinka maintained that the allegations are “another failed attempt at blackmail” and insisted that no land had been allocated to any of Wike’s children.

“As usual, this sponsored blackmail has failed. Those seeking to blackmail the FCT Minister will need to put in more effort,” Olayinka stated.
“Nothing will stop him from continuing his developmental efforts in the FCT in accordance with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Olayinka also argued that the earlier claim involving Joaq Farms was based on misinformation, clarifying that the land referenced was located in Bwari Area Council, not in Maitama or Asokoro.

“Last week, it was the unfounded propaganda of Wike allocating 2,082 hectares of land in Asokoro and Maitama, even when no such land is available in the two districts combined,” he said.
“This week, it is the tale of allocation to another son, using a company named Jordan Farms.”

He emphasized that Jordan Farms and Estates Limited is a legally registered Nigerian company and has no connection to Wike’s children.

That one of the Minister’s sons is named Jordan does not mean the company belongs to him,” Olayinka noted.
“Records of ownership are available at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and we challenge those behind these stories to publish the names of the actual owners.”

To illustrate his point, the media aide drew comparisons with common names, stating:

“My name is Lere Olayinka, and there is Lere Local Government in Kaduna State. Do I own the local government? There are companies with the name Jordan — Jordan Foods, Jordan Telecommunications — are those also owned by Wike’s son?”

Olayinka further alleged that a political figure from Adamawa State is behind the accusations, accusing him of seeking revenge over Wike’s stance on power rotation between Northern and Southern Nigeria.

Despite the controversies, Wike’s office has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing development projects in the FCT under President Tinubu’s national agenda.
