IBADAN, OYO STATE — Ahead of the forthcoming elections, the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidates for the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Ido Local Government have continued their stakeholder engagements with a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ido Chapter.
The delegation was led by Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, the APM candidate for the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, and Hon. Barr. Olayemi Ajibola Oluwasina, the party’s candidate for the chairmanship of Ido Local Government.
The visit was part of efforts by the candidates to deepen engagement with religious and community leaders and to seek their prayers, goodwill, encouragement and support ahead of the elections.
Speaking during the meeting, the candidates stressed that their political aspirations were driven by a desire to provide purposeful, accountable, inclusive and people-centred leadership, rather than merely seeking political positions.
They noted that effective leadership requires continuous consultation with stakeholders and a commitment to serving the people with integrity, humility and accountability.
“Our aspiration is not merely about occupying political offices; it is about serving our people with integrity, humility and accountability. We are seeking the support of our religious leaders and the entire community because we believe that leadership must be built on consultation, unity, service and the fear of God,” the candidates stated.
The APM candidates also reaffirmed their commitment to the party’s guiding principle of “Nigeria First,” emphasizing that the welfare, security and development of the people must remain at the centre of governance.
According to them, achieving meaningful development requires collaboration among political leaders, religious institutions, traditional rulers, community leaders and residents at the grassroots.
“Our message is simple: Nigeria First. The interest of our people must come before personal interests. We are committed to working with every relevant stakeholder, including our religious leaders, traditional institutions, community leaders and the people at the grassroots, to build a better future for our constituency and local government,” they added.
The leadership of CAN Ido Chapter warmly received the APM delegation and expressed goodwill towards the aspirations of the candidates.
A major highlight of the visit was a special prayer session organised for the candidates, their supporters and the people of Ido Local Government and the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency.
During the prayer session, Christian leaders sought divine guidance, wisdom, protection, peaceful elections and success for the candidates in their respective political pursuits.
The APM delegation subsequently expressed appreciation to the CAN Ido Chapter leadership for the warm reception, prayers, encouragement and opportunity to engage directly with the Christian community.
The visit further demonstrated the candidates’ emphasis on stakeholder consultation, peaceful coexistence, inclusive governance and grassroots development as they continue their engagements across Ido Local Government and the wider federal constituency.
The candidates maintained that their doors would remain open to constructive engagement with religious leaders, traditional institutions, community stakeholders, youths, women and other relevant groups in the pursuit of a more prosperous and united society.
